Officials: Girl, 6, recovering after Goose Creek dog bite incident

GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) -

Berkeley County officials say a 6-year-old girl is recovering following a dog bite incident over the weekend.

Authorities say the incident took place Sunday in the backyard of a home on the 100 block of Rahway Road in Goose Creek.

According to a release, the 6-year-old was attacked after entering the backyard of a home where two dogs were housed. The dogs were not at large or running loose at the time of the attack.

The girl was taken to MUSC for her injuries. Tony Ciuffo with MUSC said Monday afternoon the little girl is in fair condition.

The dog's owners were notified by Animal Control that the pets were to be placed in mandatory quarantine via a process that is required by the Department of Health and Environmental Control.

The release does not state if the dogs belonged to the victim's family, or were someone else's.
