St. Patrick Day events in Charleston

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - St. Patrick's Day may fall on a Monday this year, but that won't stop thousands of folks here in the Lowcountry from celebrating this weekend.

Throw on something green try out your best Irish accent at any of these local events:


Summerville YMCA Shamrock Shuffle - The Summerville Family YMCA will hold a 10K/5K/1M fun run on Saturday, with the races beginning at 7:50 a.m. Packet pickup will be Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Summerville Family YMCA at The Ponds and downtown, Summerville locations.

St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawl on Folly Beach - Folly's St. Paddy's Day Pub Crawl will include 11 stops at everyone's favorite spots. Each restaurant/bar will feature drink and food specials, games, and more. Some of the participating locations include Blu, Rita's Seaside Grille, Loggerhead's, and Crab Shack.

Mad River St. Patty's Day Celebration - The downtown, Charleston bar will get the party started at 9 a.m. with a free breakfast buffet. The weekend-long event will continue through the day with drink specials, live music, and much more.

St. Paddy's Block Party in Avondale - The West Ashley trendy community will hold its 1st every St. Paddy's Block Party beginning at 2 p.m. Friday. Participating restaurants include Triangle, Oak Barrel, Voodoo, Gene's, Roost, Pearlz, and Mellow Mushroom.

Park Circle's 11th Annual St. Paddy's Day Block Party and Parade - The celebration will begin with a parade at noon, followed by a block party featuring live music on three stages, street vendors, and more. While in Park Circle for the weekend-long event, head over to Madra Rua Irish Pub for some corned beef, cabbage, red potatoes, and of course, Guinness.

St. Patrick's Day Celebration on Sullivan's Island - Head over to Sullivan's Island Saturday for a St. Patrick's Day good time for the whole family. The outdoor celebration will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Portions of roads will be closed to traffic so folks can enjoy bouncing from business to business with no worries. Charleston Saint Patrick's Day Parade - Charleston will hold its annual St. Patrick's Day parade beginning at 10 a.m. at King and Radcliffe streets. The parade, which will feature floats, bagpipers, dancers and more, will go down King Street all the way to Broad Street.
