Hanahan man says he finished playing the lotto after $125k win

HANAHAN, SC (WCSC) - A man says he's done playing the lottery after winning $125,000 on a scratch-off ticket this week.

"I've been playing forever," said the Hanahan man who won the money on a Giant Jumbo Bucks ticket he bought at the Circle K on Meeting St. in Charleston on his way home from work.

But, he's calling it quits following his win, figuring he can't get much luckier than that.

The odds of him winning that prize were close to 1 in a million.

"When it happened, I called my wife and asked her if she was sitting down," the husband said.  "She thought I was lying when I told her that I'd won."

When he showed his wife the scratch-off with the words "JUMBO" and "$25,000" printed five times on the ticket, she did the math and knew $125,000 was theirs.

He took her out to dinner to celebrate being debt free.

According to lotto officials, as of this release, one top prize of $125,000 remains in the $5 Giant Jumbo Bucks game.

For selling the claimed ticket, Circle K Stores #5124 in Charleston received a commission of $1,250.
