Coast Guard rescues mariner near Charleston Harbor

The Coast Guard rescued a 54-year-old man who suffered a burn injury while he was on a motor boat near the Charleston Harbor Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews say they rescued the injured mariner 14 miles southeast of the Charleston Harbor.

The Coast Guard deployed a 45-foot response boat and made contact with the mariner at 12:02 p.m.

He was then transported back to shore where EMS crews were standing by to transport him to MUSC.
