Elementary student suspended for bringing pocket knife to school

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Dorchester District 2 officials say an elementary student has been suspended after bringing a pocket knife to an elementary school in Summerville.

According to DD2 officials, a 2nd grade student brought the knife to Spann Elementary, and showed it to a student in class.

School officials say the incident was immediately reported to the teacher who took the knife to a school administrator.

A spokeswoman for DD2 said the student did not intend to hurt anyone, but was suspended which is district policy.
