CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Gratitude and appreciation filled the quad at Military Magnet Academy Friday morning as more than 50 Wounded Warrior and Patriot Guards rode in on bikes and motorcycles.
The wounded veterans have made their way across the Lowcountry this week, stopping at school and military bases. The group was honored by JROTC and other school organizations through marches and speeches.
At the end of the ceremony, Military Magnet Academy presented the Wounded Warriors with a check for $415.05.
School officials said it was the least they could do to show their gratitude.
"Patriotism because sometimes we have to give more than ourselves," said Military Magnet Academy Principal Anderson Townsend. "We have to give something for this great nation. I think when the students saw this they knew that one day they may have to defend their country."
