NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - Investigators with the North Charleston police say they have arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection to a shooting that injured another teen Sunday evening.
Authorities arrested the 13-year-old Wednesday night and is being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice. The teen is being charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. It's the second arrest that police have made in the case. On Monday, a 15-year-old girl was arrested and charged with attempted murder. Authorities believe the girl transported the suspect to and from the location.
According to an incident report, authorities responded to reports of a shooting in the 7600 block of Corley Dr. in North Charleston Sunday around 6:45 p.m.
Police arrived on scene to find a 15-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the buttocks.
The victim told police he was outside when a group of males and females approached him and asked about a relative. The suspect then pulled out a handgun and began firing shots as the victim ran away, the report states.
Officials say five .380 caliber shell casings were found in the road outside the victim's home.
The suspect was initially described in reports as possibly being a male, but it was later determined the suspect was a 15-year-old female. She is being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are expected.
