As a team, the Cougars carded a three-round score of 309-305-208—922 (+58) to place 15th in a field comprised of five Top 50-ranked Golfstat.com teams in No. 11 Clemson (+35), who finished fifth, No. 34 GRU Augusta (+31) in fourth, No. 40 Kansas (+39) in seventh, No. 46 Wisconsin (+43) tied for eighth and No. 48 Illinois (+55) in 11th.

“We’ve had a lot of great tournaments and weekends this year, but this wasn’t one of them,” CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. “We have to make sure we turn it around quickly as we have another big tournament this weekend at the Bryan National Collegiate. We would like to thank the Briar’s Creek staff and all of our volunteers for running yet another first-class collegiate golf tournament for the second year in a row.”

Junior C.C. Buford (San Antonio, Texas), who competed as an individual, tied for 22nd (+9) and matched a career-low round with an even-par 72 in the final round. She and Fuenfstueck were one of only nine players in the 17-team field to make an eagle through 54 holes of play. Sophomore Morgan Webber (Moore, S.C.) was the next highest finisher for CofC tying for 33rd at +12.

The Cougars will return to action this coming weekend at the Bryan National Collegiate co-hosted by Wake Forest and UNCG on March 28-30 at the Champions Course at Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center in Greensboro, N.C.
