NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) -
Ft. Wayne scored 5 of the last 6 goals of the game to hand the Stingrays at 7-3 loss in front of over 3100 people at the North Charleston Coliseum on Friday night.
The Komets got the scoring going less than a minute into the game as Brandon Marino scored the 1st of his 2 goals on the night to put Ft. Wayne up 1-0.
The Rays would tie things up thanks to a Dale Mitchell goal (19) to end the 1st period tied at 1.
South Carolina would take the lead less than a minute into the 2nd period on Scott Campbell's 11th goal of the year.
Ft. Wayne's Aaron Clarke would quickly tie things up with the 1st of his 2 goals in the period. But Nick Larson (8) would give the Rays the lead back one more time.
From there though, the Komets took control, scoring 3 more times in the 2nd period to take a 5-3 lead. South Carolina scored once more in the period from Stephan Vigier (1), but it would be their last of the night.
The two teams will meet on the ice again on Saturday night at 7:05pm in a game that will feature the Stanley Cup trophy at the North Charleston Coliseum.
