Bond set at $21k for former president of Exchange Club of Charleston

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Bond was set Friday for 57-year-old Dennis Lott, the former president Exchange Club of Charleston.

Lott’s bond was set at $21,000 for breach of trust with fraudulent intent and fraudulent check charge.

Investigators with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office say Lott was arrested during a traffic stop last Friday, after being wanted in connection to nearly $200,000 of missing funds from Coastal Carolina Fair accounts.

Authorities say the former Exchange Club of Charleston president allegedly wrote a $190,000 check to himself from a rainy day reserve fund for the fair and cashed it in July.

The organization says it gave more than $650,000 from last year's fair to charities in the area.
