The South Carolina Stingrays (40-23-2-4) fell to the Florida Everblades (34-26-3-5) 4-0 at Germain Arena Saturday evening. The Stingrays hold a 4-4-0-0 head-to-head record against the South-Division rivals.
The Everblades kicked off the scoring midway through the first period when forward Evan Bloodoff lifted a shot over the blocker of Stingrays netminder Pheonix Copley (L, 33 saves on 37 shots) from between the faceoff circles at 8:22. Forward Geoff Walker made it 2-0 at 15:24 finding space between the legs of Copley from the right-wing circle.
In the second period, forward Brandon MacLean deflected a shot from defenseman Mike Little past Copley at 6:45 for a three-goal advantage. Moments later, Everblades captain Mathieu Roy completed the game scoring with his team-leading 26 goal of the season at 12:43. Through two periods, Everblades fired 30 shots on Copley to the Stingrays’ 11 on goaltender Trevor Cann (W, 23 saves on 23 shots). The Stingrays went 0-for-4 on the power play while the Everblades went 0-for-2.
The Stingrays and Everblades close the regular-season series tomorrow, Sunday, April 6 at 5:00 p.m. at Germain Arena. The Stingrays’ five-game road trip ends on Tuesday, April 8 against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:00 p.m. at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.
