Sheriff's office searching for man accused of throwing 2-year-old child

Investigators in Orangeburg are looking for a 24-year-old man accused of throwing a 2-year-old causing the child's leg to fracture.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office is searching for Michael Anthony McClellan of Orangeburg wanted for unlawful neglect of child.

According to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, deputies responded to the Regional Medical Center at 10:43 a.m. on March 25 for a child that had been injured.

"Our initial investigation indicated that the 2-year-old and a 4-year-old were jumping on a bed when the 2-year-old was injured," Ravenell said."Our investigation determined that the father Michael Anthony McClellan threw the child causing the child’s leg to fracture.”

“Any adult that can use enough strength on a helpless child to damage a bone, should not be hiding out from law enforcement," Ravenell said."To the family members and friends who are helping him allude authorities, assisting a fugitive is a criminal act too.”

Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 803-534-3550 or CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC.
