EDGEFIELD COUNTY, SC (WFXG) -

A 58-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash Sunday in Edgefield County, leaving his friends and family devastated. But one friend says he has memories of his friend that will last forever.

Zachary McCormick said what he will miss most about his friend Joseph Miller is how kind he was to others.

"He was a good man," McCormick said. "He always knew how to keep a smile on someone's face. He'd give you the shirt and shoes on his feet and back."

That's why he says he couldn't believe when he heard Miller crashed his motorcycle Sunday and died.

"It's sad to see something like that happen," McCormick said. "Especially when I ride a motorcycle myself."

The Edgefield County coroner says Miller was riding his motorcycle near the intersection of Gregory Lake Road and Maple Drive, when he veered off the road around 4 p.m. Miller died on spot, and he was not wearing a helmet.

"Something like a rabbit, squirrel or something went out in front of him, maybe, causing him to swerve, but I really don't know," McCormick said. "Especially on a motorcycle, you can't stop on a dime. It's either make a ditch effort or try to save yourself."

Despite the tragic death of his friend, McCormick says he will remain positive by remembering the good times.

"He is in a better place, and at least he did go out doing something that he loved doing."

McCormick found a piece of Millers motorcycle at the sight of the crash. He says he will present it to Miller's family, so they will be able to remember that he loved his bike.
