CPD: Man wanted for putting gun to child's head surrenders to investigators

Charleston police say a man surrendered to investigators Tuesday night to accusations that he held a gun to the head of his child's mother and threatened to kill her.

Elton Maurice Weiters, 32, was wanted for criminal domestic violence with high and aggravated nature.

According to an incident report, Weiters went to the victim's residence on February 4 around 5:30 a.m.When the victim opened the door, Weiters allegedly put a pistol to the victim's head and said, "I should blow your brains out!"

The victim told police she was able to call 911 after Weiters racked the gun, causing the bullet to exit the chamber. Weiters then fled the scene.

The victim said she waited to report the incident until April 11 because she was "so shocked and traumatized by it that she was scared to," the report states.

According to the victim, Weiters sent a Facebook message to another person admitting that he put the gun to the victim's head to "scare her."

Police say Weiters and the victim have a child together.
