DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Twenty-two-year-old Devonna Huff flips through a scrapbook she made for her fiancé, 24-year-old Drew Shumway, sharing memories the two made over the past five years.
"He was full of life. He and I were about to move back to California, and he was just so excited."
Huff says she last saw Shumway April 5th.
"He said he was dropping some people off. He would be home in 30 minutes and that he loves me, and I said I love you too. That was the last time I talked to him."
Huff says when he didn't answer his phone later that evening, she knew something was wrong. The next day she reported him missing to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. Five days later, Shumway's body was discovered in the shed on this property in Givhans. The Dorchester County Coroner says he was shot in the head.
"It's just really sad that someone that special and young is gone, and that we love him, and it's not fair what they did to us or him."
The couple was getting married next week.
"It's hard when you wake up in the morning, and he's here. You go to sleep, and he's there. I'm upset. He's there. His laugh, his smile, the funny things he says, I'm just going to miss everything about him."
