(KLTV) - An Amber Alert for a 14-year-old girl with Down Syndrome has been canceled and a man arrested after the girl was found safe.

PIO Randy Fitzgerald says that Elizabeth Rex was found in Harlingen with family acquaintance Randy Johnson, who is now in custody and charged with kidnapping.

Johnson was a family acquaintance who was temporarily staying with them, Fitzgerald says, and after the family says they felt "uncomfortable" with his presence in their home, they asked him to leave.

On April 14 the family noticed that Elizabeth had disappeared from their yard where she had  been outside playing. Johnson spoke with the family and told them that he had taken Elizabeth and he was never going to bring them back, they told police.

FBI assisted the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department in finding Rex and Johnson, and she is reported to be in good condition but being checked out at a local hospital.
