A newly-graduated Charleston County Sheriff's Deputy received the J.P. Strom Award from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.
Deputy Rickie L. Biggs received the award Friday during her basic law enforcement graduation ceremony, according to a release from the sheriff's office. The award is presented to the member of the graduating class achieving the highest overall academic average, including the successful completion of all performance tests, during the nine-week training program.
Deputies Richard A. Spires and David D. Poole received their basic certification, a sheriff's office spokesperson said.
Biggs received the Burke Friday Award in 2012 during her basic jail graduation ceremony, according to the sheriff's office. This award is also presented to the member of the graduating class who has achieved the highest overall academic average during this three week academic training period.
