ISLE OF PALMS, SC (WCSC) - The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a possible missing paddleboarder because of weather conditions.
A spokesperson says the weather is creating unsafe searching conditions off the Isle of Palms.
A witness saw a paddleboarder who appeared to be in distress and called the Coast Guard at around 2:50 p.m. Friday, Officer Lauren Jorgensen said. The only description the witness could offer was that he saw a black paddle board with white markings.
The Coast Guard had a boat in the water and dispatched a helicopter, but there has been no sign of anyone, the spokesman said.
The Coast Guard will return to searching pending any new developments.
The Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island Fire Departments were also assisting in the search.
