Not a lot of rain for the calendar year so far, but with the gray skies and heavy rain in the state Saturday, it sure looked like we were in for some wet weather in Tucson.

Some areas of the metro picked up light showers early Saturday morning. The amounts were generally less than .05" and officially at the airport nothing fell except for a trace. Areas of Cochise county saw heavy thunderstorms and decent rainfall amounts, which is good news for crews battling the Brown Fire in the Huachuca Mountains.

Here are the latest rainfall amounts from this storm:
Douglas: .65"
Bisbee: .35"
Mount Lemmon: .25"
Sonoita: .17"
Benson: .16"
Sells: .10"
Parker Canyon Lake: .08"
Oracle: .04"
Oro Valley: .09"
Tucson (Airport): Trace

As previously mentioned very little rain fell in Tucson today and that seems to be the case for this year. We have gone long periods of time without measurable rainfall in Tucson for 2014 and it all started back on December 20th of 2013.

Our first day of measurable rain at the airport was February 3rd. That was 45 days without rainfall and we went another 26 days without rain until the next storm moved in. But we are currently in the longest stretch so far without rain for 2014. No measurable rain has fallen in Tucson since March 2nd. That is currently 48 days, and if we do not see anything at the airport by tonight, we can add to that and possibly go until the monsoon kicks off.

Days with rain this year:
February 3rd: .01"
March 1st: .45"
March 2nd: .13"

January 25th: Trace
February 1st: Trace
February 6th: Trace
April 19th: Trace

Hail that fell in Bisbee on April 19th, 2014.
