Moncks Corner woman accused of shooting boyfriend during argument

MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) - Berkeley County deputies say a Moncks Corner woman shot her boyfriend in the chest Sunday night during an argument.

Shelly Taylor faces an attempted murder charge, according to Maj. Rick Ollic of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. Taylor is also charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a  violent crime.

The shooting occurred at approximately 9 p.m. on Winnow Court, according to deputies. Investigators say they found a man at the home suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where his condition is listed as critical, but stable, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.

A BCSO report states that this is not the first time deputies have responded to the address on Winnow Court.  According to BCSO officials, on three other occasions, deputies responded to that location for criminal domestic violence calls, and each time the victim would not cooperate with the sheriff's office.

A report states that after an incident on Sept. 26, 2013, when deputies noted an injury to Taylor, a warrant for her boyfriend's arrest was obtained on a charge of criminal domestic violence.  Berkeley County officials say that case is still pending in court.

Taylor is being held at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center where a bond hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday.
