MUSC opens new children's after hours office in Summerville

Posted: Updated:
CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - MUSC opened its new children's after hours doctor's office on Monday in Summerville. This is the third Children's After Hours Care Center in the Lowcountry.

The goal is to have a location for parents to bring their children when their normal doctor closes for the day.

MUSC says they're working closely with pediatricians to give access to quality care on the weeknights, weekends and on holidays.

Administrators  believe the new facility will not only allow children to get the care they need, but make life easier for parents also.

"When a child gets sick and you know that you need to go to the hospital, or you know that you need to go to get some care, 22 miles from here is pretty tough for a parent," said John Sanders an administrator for MUSC's Children's Hospital."So if they can come here and get their needs taken care of then we're good."

The new Children's After Hours Care Center is located at 4330 Ladson Road and will be open on weekdays from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m., and on weekends from noon until 10 p.m.
