NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - North Charleston Police identified three suspects in an early morning car chase that ended in a fatal shooting.

Nicholas David Lowe, 18, and Shaquille Davon Harris, 20 are both charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest. Harris is also charged with possession of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), also known as ecstasy, according to Police Spokesman Spencer Pryor.

North Charleston Police engaged in a vehicle pursuit on I-26 at Ashley Phosphate Road with the driver of a stolen vehicle at around 2 a.m. Thursday, Pryor said.

The pursuit ended on University Boulevard across from Wanamaker Park when the vehicle crashed, police say. Two of the three occupants of the vehicle then fled on foot behind nearby buildings, according to Pryor. Police say a third suspect was detained by police at the vehicle.

Police say they found one of the two suspects who fled following the car crash a short time later dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. That man was later identified as Peter Billa III, 23, according to the Charleston County Coroner's Office.

SLED and Highway Patrol are investigating the incident.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
