CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Crews will close northbound and southbound lanes temporarily at the intersection of Bees Ferry Road and Savannah Highway beginning Sunday night.
The closures will allow crews to complete asphalt paving and shoulder widening as part of the Bees Ferry Road widening project, according to Charleston County's Transportation Development Department.
The closures will begin Sunday at 8 p.m. and will continue until 5 a.m. Monday.
Monday and Tuesday night work will take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., with work expected to be completed Tuesday, according to spokesman Shawn Smetana.
All construction areas will be marked with construction cones and signs and work is dependent on the weather, Smetana says.
The project, expected to be completed in June, will make improvements to the entire 4.5 mile length of Bees Ferry Road, from Savannah Highway to Ashley River Road. The project is funded by the Charleston County Transportation Sales Tax Program and by the second Transportation Sales Tax bond referendum, Smetana says.
