ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators say a 32-year-old drug dealer is behind bars after he attempted to kick a deputy following a foot chase in Orangeburg County.
Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said his department was conducting a safety checkpoint at Goff Avenue and Nance Street Thursday evening when Lamonte Givens attempted to elude the traffic safety check by turning his vehicle onto a side street.
When authorities stopped Givens, authorities say he would not provide his driver's license.
A report states Givens ran from a deputy who then deployed his Taser. Givens was then placed in a vehicle with a cage where he attempted to kick out the window and kick a deputy, according to the sheriff's office.
Authorities then used a stun gun again on Givens.
Investigators say during a search of Givens' vehicle, authorities recovered crack cocaine, oxycodone, oxycontin and a handgun.
