Myrtle Beach, Kiawah Island named top golf destinations by USA Today

SOUTH CAROLINA (WCSC) -

It doesn't get much better than playing golf in the state of South Carolina, according to the readers of USA Today.

Myrtle Beach and Kiawah Island took the top two spots respectively in USA Today's 10Best Readers Choice contest for Best Golf Destinations.

The readers not only praised Myrtle Beach's abundance of incredible golf courses, but also its "plethora of mini-golf options, where families and couples can have their own heated competitions, even after dark."

"The city's prime location on the Atlantic Ocean, and nice temperatures much of the year give Myrtle Beach an edge when it comes to attracting northern golfers, especially right after a long winter," according to 10Best.

Voted No. 2 by USA Today readers, Kiawah Island is no stranger to golf accolades. The world-renowned Ocean Course on Kiawah Island played host to the 94th PGA Championship in 2012, and is a top destination for amateur and pro golfers alike.
