Evacuation lifted at MUSC building after gas leak report

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Crews lifted the evacuation of a building on the MUSC campus after checking for signs of a gas leak, an SCE&G spokesperson confirms.

Technicians at the MUSC Basic Science Building on Ashley Avenue in downtown Charleston say they found no leak in the SCE&G system, according to SCE&G spokesperson Kim Asbill.

MUSC technicians are on the scene, however, trying to isolate a leak found on their internal system, Asbill said.

Crews were notified of the potential leak after the smell of some type of gas was reported shortly before 10 a.m.
