Lockdowns lifted at five North Charleston schools following shooting investigation

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the Charleston County School District say lockdowns at five North Charleston schools have been lifted following police activity in the area.

According to North Charleston Police Department officials, authorities were investigating a report of shots fired in the area of Upjohn Road off E. Montague Avenue.

NCPD spokesman Spencer Pryor said a search of the area found no evidence of gunfire, or any victims or suspects.

CCSD reported that North Charleston Creative Arts, School of the Arts, Academic Magnet, Hursey Elementary School and Liberty Hill Academy were all under code yellow administrative lockdown due to the police activity.

Jason Sakran with CCSD said all students are safe, and the lockdowns were issued as a precaution.
