Surveillance video shows brawl outside North Charleston bar before shooting

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Surveillance video from a nearby business shows a brawl outside a North Charleston neighborhood bar Sunday morning before three people were shot and wounded.

Police say gunfire erupted outside Willie's Bar and Grill just before 12:30 AM.

Witnesses told officers it started with a fight inside a bathroom. Police say security told two men to leave the bar, and the fight then apparently continued outside.

Surveillance video shows punches being thrown outside the bar. Then it appears one man is punched and falls to the ground and dragged to a car. Cops say after the fight one man got a gun and started shooting.

Police say a security guard returned fire.

Tom Reiss lives in the nearby Forest Hills subdivision.

"You pass it every day, going up to the Walmart, coming back from McDonalds and then you think about it, it is a little scary because it's getting close to home,” Reiss said.

Monday morning, bullet holes were seen above the doors of the business.

According to an incident report, officers found five nine millimeter shell casings outside Willie's.

(848)"What concerns me is the weapons,” Reiss said.

North Charleston City Councilman Ed Astle also is concerned. The bar is in his district.

"If they start shooting, I've got residential people living over there, and once that bullet's fired, it doesn't know where it's going,” said Astle.

Police say two shooting victims were found outside the bar. We are told a third shooting victim showed up at Roper Northwoods Hospital.

So far, no arrests have been made.

"It's not the old days when we were kids when you punched it out. Now it's go out to the car and get the guns,” Astle said.

Police say the victims’ injuries from Sunday’s shooting were not life threatening. Just a few weeks ago officers arrested a man outside Willie’s for having an AK 47 and cocaine in his car.
