CHARLESTON, SC -

Charleston Southern’s Alex Tomasovich has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Baseball Player of the Week, while brother and teammate Andrew Tomasovich was tabbed The Crons Brand Pitcher of the Week for games played April 28-May 4, the League announced today.

Alex Tomasovich, a senior from Tega Cay, S.C., batted .375 with six hits and three RBI to lead the Buccaneers to a 3-1 record last week, including a pivotal series win over Presbyterian College. He posted a hit in every game he played in, adding a pair of hits in two contests. His biggest game of the week came on May 3 as he posted two hits, three RBI, a double, a home run and two runs scored in the series clinching win. Alex Tomasovich also added a stolen base and a pair of hits in the win over Wofford on April 30. He is now just one double shy of the CSU record of 50 and five hits away from the all-time record of 239. The honor marks his second Big South Player of the Week nod this season.

Andrew Tomasovich, a sophomore from Tega Cay, S.C. pitched a complete game shutout to give CSU the 1-0 win over Presbyterian College on May 3. He posted two strike outs in the contest and scattered six singles in the outing. In his first career complete game, he needed only 100 pitches as the Buccaneers tied the school record of five shutouts this season. The left-hander is currently riding a 14.2 scoreless innings-pitched streak. The award marks his first Big South Pitcher of the Week honor this season.
