SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Summerville police say they are searching for two suspects who pulled a switch-a-roo at a N. Main Street jewelry store, allowing them to get away with two diamond rings worth roughly $15,000.
According to an incident report, the flimflam took place at Kims Fine Jewelry on April 29 just before 5 p.m.
Authorities say two women entered the jewelry store and eventually asked an employee to place one of the displays on the counter so they could try on some rings.
The report states it was later discovered that when one or both of the women tried on rings, they replaced the real rings with fake jewelry. An employee says the suspects got away with a 1.5 karat diamond engagement ring worth $11,500, and another diamond engagement ring worth $3,500.
Police were notified of the theft on April 30.
If you have any information on this incident or recognize the women in the photos, call Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.
