Family: Mt. Pleasant boy diagnosed with inoperable tumor passes away

Make-A-Wish South Carolina grants Mt. Pleasant boy's biggest wish

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - An 8-year-old Mount Pleasant boy who was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor in his brain stem has passed away, according to family members.

"Ethen is completely healed and there is no more sickness. God called his little angel back home today," read a Wednesday night Facebook post by Ethen's Richardson's father, Todd."There will be more posts and info as family and friends arrive in Charleston. Thanks to everyone for your continued prayers."

In July of last year, Ethen was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor in his brain stem.

For eight weeks, Ethen participated in a clinical trial at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.  The treatment involved experimental drugs and radiation.

It was there Ethen's parents spoke to representatives from the Make-A-Wish foundation which granted Ethen's wish of visiting New York City with his family.

Ethen and his family were also selected as special guests on the FOX News All-American New Year show in Times Square last year.

Ethen's family documented and updated Ethen's life on the family's Facebook page found here.
