CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say crews have secured a gas leak in downtown Charleston that resulted in multiple road closures Thursday morning.
According to the Charleston Fire Department, the gas leak was reported in the area of President Street between Sumter and Congress Streets. That area was closed off, along with Congress and Sumter Streets between Parkwood Avenue and Sutherland.
All roads have since been reopened, officials say.
SCE&G officials say the gas line was damaged by a third party contractor, but the area is now safe.
The fire department and SCE&G both responded to the incident.
