TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

An air quality advisory has been issued by the Pima County Department of Environmental Quality due to heightened wind.

A wind advisory from the National Weather Service is in effect until 7:00 p.m. Sunday night. Th wind increases the amount of dust, soot and aerosols in the air, according to a release from PDEQ.

It is recommended that anyone with heart disease or respiratory problems to avoid dust-prone areas and any strenuous activities that could elevate inhalation of particulates into the lungs. It is suggested that those at risk stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed.

PDEQ is responsible for monitoring the amount of air pollution in our area. They have 17 air quality sites across the region.

Pollution levels are updated every hour online at www.airinfonow.org or by calling the PDEQ hotline at (520) 882-4AIR.
