MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - A second public meeting to discuss the possibility of bringing another high school to Mt. Pleasant is set for Monday night.
Parents and educators are invited to attend a meeting at the Moultrie Middle cafeteria at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held by a committee tasked with creating a proposal to lay out the vision for a second high school in Mt. Pleasant.
The committee held its initial meeting last week, where committee chair Kate Darby discussed the proposed school's curriculum as well as the possible site of the school.
Officials say they are considering building Mt. Pleasant's second high school where the current Wando football stadium is located, off Mathis Ferry Road.
The new school could cost an estimated $75 million. The revenue will come from the one-cent sales tax that passed in 2010. It will be up to voters to pass it again in November.
