(WMC) - A hotel, a grocery store, and a tire shop have been shut down under nuisance laws, the Shelby County District Attorney's Office says.
MPD's organized crime unit says it's a front for a drug business lucrative enough that customers often had to wait in line for weed.
Governor's Inn and Suites at 2490 Mt. Moriah Road, Millbranch Food and Grocery at 3647 Millbranch Road, and the B'Well Express tire shop at 1785 Delano are all temporary closed as nuisance petitions wind through the court system.
The DA's office says arrests and indictments will follow.
Prosecutors say Millbranch Food and Grocery sold marijuana over the counter often in front of school-aged children.
Staff at the Governor's Inn and Suites on Mt. Moriah tried to run WMC Action News 5 crews off. MPD says it's made 17 arrests at the property since January 2013, enough that prosecutors say it's had a negative impact on the surrounding community.
The district attorney general says these closures send a message.
"Our mission here is not to eliminate businesses in Shelby County. Our point and our mission is to eliminate illegal activity," said DA Amy Weirich.
Owners of all three businesses are due in environmental court at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
