BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators in Beaufort County say a 32-year-old Florida man has been arrested in connection with the theft of nearly $200k worth of jewelry.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office has charged Danny Figuerdo-Torres of Miami with second-degree burglary and grand larceny in connection to the Nov. 21, 2013 break-in at the Pandora jewelry store at Tanger Outlets 2 on Fording Island Road.
According to the sheriff's office, Torres broke into the business through a front door, where he stole an estimated $194,555 worth of jewelry. A report states a few pieces of jewelry were later recovered in the area of a golf course on Old South, however the majority of the jewelry remained unknown.
On March 24, DNA collected from the crime scene positively identified Torres. The sheriff's office says on May 2, investigators received information from police in Florida that Torres had been located and arrested in Miami.
Torres was then transported back to Beaufort County on Tuesday.
He's currently locked up at the Beaufort County Detention Center on $50,000 bond.
