Texas man accused of vandalizing, urinating on Charleston police cruiser

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 33-year-old man from Texas was arrested after police say he urinated underneath a Charleston police cruiser and damaged the vehicle.

The Charleston Police Department charged Matthew Kevin Killian of Houston, Texas with open container, public disorderly conduct and damage to real property.

Killian's arrest stems from an incident early Thursday morning when two officers spotted a man, later identified as Killian, standing next to a Charleston police cruiser on King Street.

The officers reported that Killian's zipper was down and a puddle of urine was underneath the police car.

A police report states that Killian was also holding a bottle of beer and had his right hand in the cruiser's window as he was looking into the passenger compartment.

When officers made contact with Killian, they observed several smudged fingerprints on both the inside and outside of the top of the cruiser's window.

According to authorities, the officers located two antennas on the ground belonging to the cruiser.

A CPD report states that when Killian was placed in the rear of the cruiser, he said,"I didn't mean to do it."

When the officer asked him what he meant, Killian said,"I didn't mean to hurt your car."
