DEARBORN COUNTY, IN (FOX19) -

Law enforcement in southeastern Indiana have arrested two men in connection with a pursuit and police shooting.

Dakota Fraley, 20, of Holton, Ind. and Chad Sumler, 24, of Versailles, Ind., are each charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary. Both are felonies.

Indiana State Police said between noon and 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, multiple law enforcement agencies were conducting surveillance as part of an ongoing burglary investigation when officers attempted to stop a pickup truck with two individuals who were suspected of having just burglarized a home on Walters Road in Dearborn County.

Police said several officers had the vehicle surrounded near the intersection of Weisburg Road and Five Points when the driver attempted to flee and struck  Detective Abe Hildebrand of the Ripley County Sheriff's Department.

A trooper fired several shots at the vehicle as the suspects fled and led police on a high speed chase through northern Dearborn County into southern Franklin County where they abandoned their vehicle on Sturwold Road and fled on foot. A perimeter was established and the suspects were taken into custody a short time later.

The trooper who shot at the suspects is an undercover Indiana State Police investigator. Police didn't release his name. Hildebrand suffered a chipped tooth after being struck by the suspect vehicle.

Police said Wednesday's incident was part of an ongoing investigation into a rash of daytime burglaries that have been happening during the last couple of months in Dearborn, Decatur, and Ripley counties.

Investigators executed at least two search warrants that resulted in the recovery of numerous items of the stolen property and as the investigation continues it is expected to clear 25 to 30 burglaries in the three counties, Indiana State Police said. Others could be charged.
