CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) -

Crews battled a fire on the north side of Carolina Beach Thursday night.

The fire started sometime between 10:00 and 10:30 Thursday night at 103 Virginia Ave. When crews arrived the house was fully involved, but they were able to quickly knock down the flames according to Deputy Chief Soward with the Carolina Beach Fire Department.

Soward said no one was home at the time of the fire and that the home owner is in the process of moving out.

Crews from the Carolina Beach Fire and Police Departments along with units from Kure Beach, New Hanover County, and one from the City of Wilmington were on scene. Because the crews were able to knock the flames out in under one and a half minutes, the house is not being considered a total loss, but did suffer extensive damage. Investigators say the damage is estimated at $250,000.

There were no injuries reported why extinguishing the fire and no surrounding homes were damaged. Investigators are on the scene now trying to determine a cause.

There was a fire on the same street last February. Click this link for more details: http://bit.ly/1k9EdBn
