CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Court records state a 38-year-old fugitive who was caught Monday afternoon was wanted for shooting his ex-girlfriend in the nose, narrowly missing her brain.
The Charleston Police Department charged Reco Ramone Felder him with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
Felder's arrest stems from an incident on the morning of May 24 when authorities say Felder waited beneath the stairway of his ex-girlfriend's apartment on Ashley Hall Plantation Road.
An affidavit states as the victim and her current boyfriend walked down the stairs, Felder took out a gun and pointed it at both the victim and her boyfriend. According to a CPD report, when the boyfriend fled the scene, Felder put the gun to the victim's face.
Police say Felder then shot the victim in the face as she attempted to deflect the gun. Court records state the victim sustained a gunshot wound to the bridge of her nose, narrowly missing her brain. Felder then fled the scene, authorities say.
The victim told investigators that it was Felder who shot her, and had a child with him during a previous relationship. Witnesses positively identified Felder as the shooter.
