5 Around Town: Shake up your lunch routine in downtown Charleston

When you are in downtown Charleston, one thing is for certain: There is no shortage of unique places to grab a quick bite to eat.

This week, we are taking a look at 5 restaurants in downtown Charleston (could have included 20 more) perfect for grabbing a mouth-watering, low price meal in a hurry.

1) Ted's Butcherblock

Location: 334 East Bay Street

What to expect: Located on a corner spot in the Ansonborough Square shopping center, Ted's is a one-stop shop for delicious sandwiches, gourmet meals, and artisan cheeses. As the name would imply, Ted's is also a full-fledged butcher shop, slinging fresh cuts of beer, pork, poultry and more.  Looking for a top-of-the-line deli sandwich or panini made with fresh cuts of meat and cheese, all for a reasonable price? It's hard to beat Ted's Butcherblock.

The menu at Brown Dog goes from traditional lunch fare (Grilled Chicken Caesar Wrap, R.B's Bacon Cheddar Melt) to Asian-inspired cuisine (Asian Ahi Tuna, with toasted almonds, mandarin oranges, chow mein noodles and cucumber wasabi sauce), alongside a laundry list of unique hot dogs that put your everyday cookout dogs to shame. They also have an extensive vegetarian/vegan menu, so there is no excuse to not swing by and get your eat on.
