North Charleston firefighters extinguish mobile home fire

NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - Emergency crews extinguished a fire at a mobile home in North Charleston Tuesday afternoon.

Charleston County Consolidated dispatch received a report of a residential fire at about 12:15 p.m. at 2748 Otranto Road, fire officials say. The first units to arrive reported heavy smoke and fire visible from the single wide mobile home, but no one was reported in the residence at the time of the fire.

North Charleston Fire Department officials say the fire was contained in the first 20 minutes of the call, but firefighters remained on scene until just before 2:30 p.m. to ensure the fire was out and conduct an investigation into its cause.

According to NCPD officials, it did not appear that anyone was living in the home at the time of the fire.

An NCPD report states the cause of the fire as undetermined.

There were no reported injuries.
