CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston Mayor Joe Riley and other city leaders led the dedication that opened Northbridge Park to the public Tuesday morning.

The $1.5 million project includes a Kayak and Canoe launch, a pet station, bicycle racks and a walking path under the bridge with security cameras. The project took nine months of construction to complete.

The park will be located at the foot of the North Bridge on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard.

City leaders say there has been a lot of anticipation for the park because for years, it has been considered an "unofficial" meeting place for people in West Ashley and North Charleston.
