Couple convicted in murder-for-hire plot set to be sentenced in June

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A couple convicted in a murder-for-hire plot is expected to be sentenced next month.

Chris Latham and Wendy Moore are scheduled to be sentenced on the morning of June 11. Prosecutors alleged that Moore and her ex-boyfriend, Chris Latham, hired a hitman to kill Latham's former wife, Nancy Cannon.

Prosecutors said Latham and Moore hired Moore's ex-husband and another man in April, 2013, to kill Cannon.

Latham and Moore were charged on August 6, 2013 with conspiracy to use interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder for hire, use of interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder for hire, and possession firearm in furtherance of crime of violence. Moore was also charged with solicitation of murder for hire.

On February 26, a jury convicted Moore on all counts, while Latham was only convicted of use of interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder for hire.

Moore faces 30 years in prison, and Latham faces up to 10 years in prison.
