Suspect sought following armed robbery at N. Charleston parking lot

NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - Dorchester County deputies are searching for a suspect following an armed robbery at a parking lot at an Ashley Phosphate Road business.

Capt. Tony Phinney of the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened in the 3700 block of Ashley Phosphate Road.

An employee of a nearby business activated the panic alarm to notify authorities, which led responding deputies to believe the business itself had been robbed, authorities say.

According to Phinney, another employee of the store was coming from her her car to the store when she was confronted at the parking lot by a man holding what is believed to be a knife. The sheriff's office says the victim was grabbed and threatened.

Phinney said although the victim initially thought she was injured, she had not physical injuries following an assessment and was not transported to the hospital.

The suspect was wearing a hoodie and fled the scene in a dark pickup truck, police say.
