NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston Fire Department officials say a lightning strike may have sparked a fire at a home Friday afternoon.

Around 1:15 p.m., Charleston County dispatch received a call for a house fire at the 2900 block of Baker Avenue. Neighbors reported to officials that lightning struck the single family home.

First responders reported a light haze of smoke coming from the home. Crews said they were able to contain the fire to the attic and the exterior of the home.

NCFD officials say no one was at the home at the time of the fire, and no one was injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A family of four was displaced and is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
