ORANGEBURG, SC (WCSC) - Deputies attempting to serve a bench warrant on an Orangeburg man say they discovered an active meth lab inside the man's home.

Timothy Lee Crummie, 23, was attempting to hide evidence of an active cook, Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said.

Authorities said Crummie was wanted on a bench warrant for failure to appear on a burglary third degree arrest and failure to appear from a Department of Public Safety's arrest for the manufacture, distribution, etc., of methamphetamine.

"This was no small operation," Ravenell said. "From the evidence recovered today, Crummie was an experienced cooker. Officers must always be on alert because as (is) evident today, there is no routine call."

Authorities are still on the scene collecting evidence that will determine any additional charges filed against Crummie, a sheriff's office spokesperson said.
