Robbery suspect caught after vehicle smashes fence in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Investigators say a robbery suspect was arrested after he crashed a vehicle through a fence at a home in North Charleston Thursday afternoon.

Shortly before 1 p.m., North Charleston police officers responded to a house on Lambs Road in reference to a robbery. According to the victims, two men entered their home and said,"Where's the dope."

Police say when the victims told the suspects they did not have drugs, the suspects robbed the victims of money and took off.

Charleston County deputies then spotted the suspects' vehicle on Dorchester Road where it collided with another vehicle.

Authorities say a pursuit took place from Dorchester Road to Montague Avenue and ended in the Russelldale neighborhood off Rivers Avenue where one suspect fled on foot in the area of Butler Street, while the driver continued to flee in the vehicle.

According to NCPD officials, the driver crashed the vehicle through a fence at a home on Target Street, sideswiped a trailer and eventually came to a stop at the home's porch.

The driver was arrested on James Bell Street, and was found with marijuana, a large amount of cash and a handgun magazine, police report.

Officers also located a .45 caliber gun inside the vehicle.
