GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Officials in Georgetown County say a 500 pound black bear showed up at an Andrews neighborhood Friday morning.
Lt. Timothy Taylor with the Andrews Police Department says the bear, estimated to be between 500 and 600 pounds, was in the area of Magnolia and Rosemary avenues.
When police arrived in the neighborhood, officers spotted the bear behind a house. The bear then went into the woods and came back out on a residential road.
Taylor says the bear eventually returned to the woods.
According to authorities, six police officers and volunteer firemen responded to the incident.
The Department of Natural Resources was also called to the incident.
