Suspect arrested in Mt. Pleasant home burglary

Mt. Pleasant police say they have arrested a burglary suspect who was caught on surveillance video breaking into a home and snagging $2,750 worth of items.

Authorities were called out to a home on Old Central Way Tuesday morning after the homeowners realized numerous items were stolen out of their kitchen overnight.

According to an incident report, $2,760 worth of items, including two iPhones, and iPad, and a Louis Vuitton purse, were missing from the kitchen island.

Police say surveillance footage showed the suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Daniel James Collins, enter the home through an unlocked door, go into the kitchen, and leave with unknown items in his hands.

The report states two fraudulent online purchases were made with the victim's credit card, totaling $870.15.
